Rickey's Restaurant & Bar

Rickeys Restaurant & Bar
250 Entrada Drive
Novato, CA 94949

You walk into the Inn Novato through a curtain and head to the left past the open kitchen-it is an odd set up- and to the restaurant and bar. The bar area is behind a glass wall so you look over the restaurant through the glass- at first this was a bit disconcerting but you get used to it once the drinks start flowing. At the end of the bar is a large fireplace that was blazing away when we got there as it was rainy and chilly out, creating a toasty and inviting atmosphere. The place has an old world CA/Mexico meets modern Novato kind of vibe…yeah I know- hard to picture right? We liked it.
The good looking bar staff were very attentive bringing free popcorn or potato chips in a basket to the bar patrons and the Happy Hour menu was impressive and extensive. Lots of house made specialty drinks ($4) bar calls and BV red or white wine ($3) and a variety of beers ($2-$4) Appetizers were no more than $5 and there were plenty of options:
Prawn Crostini with balsamic glaze  (a favorite!) , beef, chicken or fish taco (we tried fish and it was bland), crab cake (1 cake with a small salad- very tasty), chicken quesadillas (another favorite), beef tostadas,  garlic fries or a cup of soup. Appetizers were well portioned and well prepared.
We settled in and enjoyed the sexy chanteuse singing jazz at the end of the bar with her combo…ahhh Happy Hour in Marin. On nice evenings they have a full poolside patio with many tables and Happy Hour is served there, too. The patio is very pretty and is a great place to watch the sunset.

Happy Hour at Rickey’s
Monday through Friday from  4-6 pm
